One District Media brings your mission to life through the power of video storytelling.

We are a group of passionate, experienced documentary filmmakers who are deeply invested in telling stories that educate, influence and inspire. We work with clients from non-profits to educational organizations and produce our own independent documentary films.

non-profit

Stories are the most powerful tool for connecting non-profits and causes to their audiences. As professional storytellers, we specialize in translating complex issues into compelling videos that move viewers to action.

education

Videos are becoming an essential classroom resource for educators, students and parents alike. Our films help facilitate professional development, share innovative curricula and communicate student needs.

independent film

Founder Abby Moser puts her training in anthropology to use in her films through an emphasis on research, writing, and a sensitivity to subjects. Her independent work combines keen observational skills with engaging, nuanced storytelling.

Non-profits run on stories.

We help award-winning non-profits achieve their mission through videos that showcase the human stories behind them. From the poignancy and hope in a program that keeps incarcerated dads in touch with their children (Hope House), to honoring CEOs and philanthropists for their public service (Wilson Center), to videos that orient viewers to one of the finest collections of 18th century Russian and French decorative arts in the world (Hillwood Museum and Gardens), our work expresses the essence of mission-driven organizations.

Grrrl Love and Revolution

Video (41 min. 36 sec.), USA: The Riot Grrrl movement of the 1990s launched a feminist punk revolution that continues to inspire young women politically and creatively.

Abby Moser, founder of One District Media, spent most of the 1990s documenting and writing about the movement. The film that came out of this footage premiered at the the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in March 2011, has shown at numerous film festivals, and is distributed by Women Make Movies. The film continues to serve as an invaluable archive for students learning the history of feminism and pop culture. It is an inspiring tribute to what is possible when a group of girls band together and believe that they are a "revolutionary soul force that can, and will, change the world for real" (Riot Grrrl Manifesto).
